About Me
Hi! My name is Angela. I have been blessed to have great mentors, parents and friends in my life. These people have helped to shape me to be the person I am today. I joined the Army once graduating from high school. I went on to working in the healthcare profession as a nursing assistant while completing my education. I graduated with my Bachelor's degree from California State University, and with my Master's degree from Argosy University. My clinical focus was in Counseling Psychology and the Criminal Justice system.
Once I completed my education, I worked in social services at a non-profit agency as a Resource Center Director, Program Manager and a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern. After moving to San Diego, I became a Program Manager with a non-profit where I was helping birth parents reconnect with their children through the Child Welfare System. I have worked as a TERM therapist through Optum Health in San Diego and Child Welfare Services both in Northern California and Southern California. I have worked with both perpetrator and victims of Domestic Violence. I have worked with human trafficking victims and members who were once a part of a gang. I work in my own private practice currently as a therapist; while simultaneously being an Administrator for a psychiatric emergency room and inpatient hospital. My approach to therapy is direct. The modalities I feel most comfortable utilizing are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with an emphasis in trauma; Narrative Therapy with an emphasis in attachment; and/or Family Systems.
I have a wonderful adult son. Being a parent does not define who I am but rather it shapes the kind of person I have always aspired to be. I have learned more about myself and the boundaries I choose to have in life because I am a mother, a daughter, a sister, a professional, a peer, and a friend. My passion is to help people find that moment in their lives where they can love themselves, and tap into their own internal strength. I didn't always have that and I know how hard it is to find it. I also know that I couldn't have achieved happiness on my own. I would love to be a part of your support network as you move forward in your journey for happiness. The answers you need are already resting within you.
